David has had a long and varied career since joining the Royal Navy on 2nd June 1953, Coronation Day of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

David rose to become CinC Staff on Malta, and later was a Radionics Technician aboard one of the thirty-seven Royal Navy ships in the North Sea during the 1959 - 1970s Cod Wars between Britain and Iceland over the rights to fish in Icelandic waters.

After leaving the Royal Navy, David was given a NATO accredited rôle as Chief Petty Officer.

He has also held positions as a Special Constable in "The Met", and as a Bus Driver in Brighton, East Sussex before retiring to Manchester at the venerable age of 87, where he lives with his partner.
